New partnership: WeSort.AI and ARPE

Batteries in the shredder, metals in the wrong waste stream: WeSort.AI and ARPE are now joining forces to tackle this issue – and they’re based right in the neighbourhood.

Electrical and electronic waste is one of the most challenging material streams in recycling. There is a wide variety of materials; lithium-ion batteries end up in the processing stream without being identified; and valuable metals are lost in the wrong fractions. This is precisely where WeSort.AI and ARPE GmbH come in. We are now offering operators of electrical and electronic waste facilities combined solutions comprising AI recognition and plant engineering.
Detection and plant engineering from a single source thanks to a new partnership
ARPE, based in Karlstadt, designs and builds recycling plants, including those for small and large appliances, refrigerators, printed circuit boards and lithium-ion batteries.
WeSort.AI enhances these systems with AI-based detection. Our X-ray-based X-Ray Sorter and camera-based Optical Sorter identify batteries, metals and plastics in the material flow before they proceed to the next stage of the process.
For you, this means that you receive both detection and plant engineering as part of a single, coordinated project rather than as two separate contracts.
“Precise sorting only realises its full potential in a facility designed for that purpose. ARPE brings precisely this expertise in electronic waste to the table. Together, we ensure cleaner fractions and a lower fire risk for our customers.” – Johannes Laier, Co-CEO and Co-founder of WeSort.AI

Short distances in Mainfranken
WeSort.AI is based in Würzburg, whilst ARPE is based in Karlstadt. Their geographical proximity significantly speeds up collaboration, from joint planning right through to on-site testing.
“Modern recycling plants need reliable detection. In WeSort.AI, we have found a strong partner for this – and one right on our doorstep, too.” – Bernhard Biener, CEO of ARPE GmbH

Future: Where WeSort.AI and ARPE are heading
A battery that is detected in good time will not cause a fire. However, that is only the beginning. With ‘Battery to fraction’, WeSort.AI and ARPE are taking it a step further and rethinking the management of lithium-ion batteries, from the recycling stream right through to the recoverable fraction. You’ll be able to find out more about this shortly.
