Location: Würzburg and Remote Germany
with 2 days per week on site


The WeSort. AI GmbH is a high-tech start-up from Würzburg, which is revolutionizing recycling with artificial intelligence and thus making a significant contribution to the much-needed circular economy. Our deep learning systems enable both a granular analysis and sorting of, for example, electronic scrap and various plastics. This year, we were one of six start-ups nationwide to be awarded the renowned Gründerpreis plus from the Federal Ministry of Economics (BMWK) for our systems. In addition, the team works with well-known partners such as Fraunhofer and Siemens on research projects and is thus fighting against climate change and pollution of the seas. 


We are looking for a working student Full Stack Developer (m/f/d) to strengthen our team. You will be responsible for the conception, architecture and implementation of our machine platform. You will have a very willing and varied range of tasks and will take on the design of subcomponents as well as the development and implementation of the software in the front and back end. You are also responsible for the control of machines and the processing of imaging sensor data. Also thematically, everything revolves around exciting and current topics from the recycling industry, such as the development of deep learning and object detection algorithms.


Your challenges:​​​​

  • Development of microservices for our machine control software suite in our microservice architecture. 

  • Software-side implementation of interfaces for the integration of AI algorithms in Python with PyTorch 

  • Work in autonomous Scrum/ Kanban teams 

  • Technology stack: Python, Pytorch, C++, REST, postgresql, Pub/Sub, Redis, SQL, NoSQL, Docker, Kubernetes, Typescript, Angular, Git, various test and build tools and many more 

  • Continuous integration/deployment and operation of own services 

  • Code reviews and pair programming 

  • Technology scouting and active involvement in technology decisions. 

  • Work in an autonomous Scrum team with flat hierarchies and plenty of opportunities to help shape the project. 

  • Collaboration in agile processes with colleagues as well as national and international partners and customers. 

  • Commissioning of software on the machine at the customer's site 


What you bring:​​​​

  • You are currently completing a scientific university degree in computer science or a comparable subject area with very good grades

  • You have initial professional experience in the field of software development or algorithm development 

  • You are proficient in the programming languages Python and C++ 

  • You like to work independently on large projects and take on responsibility 

  • You have the ability to analyse and solve highly complex issues 

  • You have a good understanding of complex system landscapes 

  • You enjoy helping to design software architectures and selecting technologies 

  • You live by principles such as clean code and test-driven development

Also helpful are:​​​​

  • Experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow or comparable frameworks 

  • Experience in dealing with message broker systems 

  • Experience in dealing with gstreamer and RTMP, HLS Streams
