Grant Manager for AI and Recycling (m/f/d)

Location: Würzburg / Remote with attendance days


WeSort.AI GmbH is a high-tech start-up from Würzburg that is revolutionising recycling through artificial intelligence and thus making a significant contribution to the urgently needed circular economy. Our deep learning systems enable both granular analysis and sorting of e.g. electronic waste and various plastics. This year, we were one of six start-ups nationwide to receive the prestigious Gründerpreis plus from the Federal Ministry of Economics (BMWK) for our systems. In addition, the team is working on research projects with renowned partners such as Fraunhofer and Siemens to fight climate change and pollution of the oceans.


Our growing company is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Grant Manager to help us identify and secure government grants. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of grants management and will have excellent communication and organizational skills. 


Your challenges:​​​​

  • Identifying and evaluating suitable funding programs and initiatives 

  • Creation and submission of funding applications after detailed research and preparation 

  • Creation, revision and optimization of business plans that clearly state our strategies and goals and demonstrate the potential and profitability of our projects 

  • Assessing exploitation opportunities that help maximize the profitability and sustainability of our projects 

  • Working with diverse teams to create coherent and powerful proposals that effectively tell our story and clearly present our goals 

  • Creation, revision and optimization of business plans that clearly state our strategies and goals and demonstrate the potential and profitability of our projects 

  • Maintaining relationships with funding institutions 

  • Track and report status of grant applications 

  • Maintaining a comprehensive database of funding opportunities and application status 

  • Ensure that all reporting and documentation requirements are met 

  • Develop strategies to maximize funding opportunities 


What you bring:​​​​

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, public administration or a related field; Master's degree preferred 

  • At least 3 years experience in applying for and managing government grants 

  • Strong research, writing and organizational skills 

  • Proven track record of securing grants 

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written 

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines 

  • Knowledge of applicable government grant laws and regulations 

  • Familiarity with MS Office and database management 

  • Fluent in written and spoken German, knowledge of English is an advantage
